How often do gems get lost in the noise and the clutter? I found two last week (a very good week!).
The first you won't have heard of - "The Same Kind of Different as Me" - a wonderful book - a true story about how God is at work in the real world - here in the relationships among an art dealer, his wife, and a homeless man. Stock it, highlight it, and sell it! Your readers will love it and lives will change.
The second you have heard of - Facing the Giants - now out on DVD. What an incredible story on a shoestring budget. You'll be hard pressed to find a better movie anywhere, including major studio releases.

I would like to echo Scott's words. I play this movie in our store as much as possible because I feel it reaches people on a spiritual level.
Facing the Giants is a powerful story that can be used for the inspiration of God's people as well as showing the world his wonderous grace.
All of us at times are struggling and need to remember that God has a good plan for us and is using the exact trials we are currently going through to get us to that plans end. This movie speaks volumes to trusting and above all honoring God even when we do not have things go our way.

This movie moved me on a very personal level. So much so that I was surprised at how much I was touched by this film. Even though this film had a lower budget than any other movie that has come out in the past year, it makes up for it in heart and the depth of the lessons it teaches.

A friend of mine posted a blog entry about the movie when it was in theaters. I read it and thought to myself: "Oh, great! Another tear-jerker football movie!" But it was so much more than I expected. I've even told some people that "even if you don't like football, you'll enjoy this movie".
There's so many times in our life when we try to do things without God. But He promises great blessings for us when we place Him in the center of everything in our lives. In this movie, an entire football team becomes a huge witness as they lay everything down at His feet. It's amazing to see what unfolds when anyone does that.

What an example Facing the Giants has set before all of us! If we could be as strong in practicing our faith as the students and faculty in the movie just think of the masses that would be witnessed to! Live the Word of the Lord and be a shining example of His greatness!
Looking for some insight.
Years ago, I rededicated my life to the Lord and he pulled me out of the pit of divorce and the dark valleys on worldly living. I have been in the place they are and would like to recommend other stories than my own to guide them.
Sometimes, people feel they are stuck as a new christian or maybe thinking about coming to Christ. And out of the woodwork come obstacles of "Christians" that gossip and remind these people of the life that God is saving them from or has saved them from.
Can you recommend some good reads for this?
Thanks...
There is one book that immediately comes to mind when I read your question. "Don't Waste Your Life," by John Piper is a great wake up call for those who are contemplating their current life and realizing the holes within it. After doing some research, I also came upon the book "The Bait of Satan," by John Bevere. In it, he discusses how to deal with the offenses by Christians who are living a seemingly "double life." By turning inward when we are hurt by those we trusted, we also turn away from the Lord, which is exactly with the Enemy wants. Bevere gives tips and scripture on how to overcome these feelings and draw closer to the Lord in the process. I hope these suggestions are helpful to you, and if you have any other questions, don't hesitate to call us!
